Giorgio: Armani Privé spring 2014 Couture collection

Giorgio Armani’s career-long themes: his interest in Asian cultures, filtered through

 his deep love of early black-and-white movies. Both influences were apparent in

 almost everything he showed. Pale gray and navy-tinted looks, starting with

 plissé pants paired with cropped jackets embroidered with abstract

 peacock-feather motifs gleaned, perhaps, from sari fabrics, moved into passages

 of paisley-patterned materials. Multiple interpretations of Indian shawls 

were thrown over shoulders.Interesting to say the least.

"A woman who's free to fly but can carry her own weight, gentle but gutsy" is how

 Armani defined the two faces of his collection. That was summed by city suits:

 jackets and shorts or wrapped skirts. The freedom to fly came through in fabrics

 that started off sheer and steadily insinuated themselves in ever enveloping volumes,

 until a final outfit that was like a billowing highwayman's cape of silk.

A palette that ranged from creamy pinks to smoky blues. Soft tailoring of a jacket, or

 the mannish sweep of a coat. But what really shaped this collection was Armani's

 longtime passion for Japan, here utilized in its more avant-garde extremes.The presentation 

today also put on full display Armani's affection for hats.

Knife-pleated pants and shorts, the Edwardian-tinged high waists and petaled 

hems hinted too at neo-Japonisme.

Emporio Armani Fall Winter 2012-13 Ad Campaign

The Fall 2012 ad campaign is set in a nocturnal, futuristic Tokyo.

An urban setting marked by bright billboards and powerful graphic symbols acting as the backdrop for shots depicting Anna De Riik, Tao Okamoto, Paolo Anchisi and Alfred Kovac.

Easy Chic was his title for the collection. His jackets of pavé sequins and dresses of crystal, all in hot orange and pink, was something he imagined appealing to a younger crowd than the red-carpet crowd .They were stunning
They were more formal in neatly creased black organza, but they were still an oddly polarizing anchor for a collection. Maybe they exemplified the "modern eccentric" note the designer feels his women seek from him, along with the classic Armani chords he struck with the great elongated jackets and pleated pants that opened the show.
